Juste Irena

JUSTE IRENATHEATRE & MARIONETTESCOMPAGNIE PANAME PILOTIS A Polish woman lives in a retirement home.

She is 98 years old, her name is Irena, and her appearance as a wrinkled old apple makes the heroic deeds she performed during the Second World War impossible to suspect: 2,500 Jewish children rescued from the Warsaw Ghetto and from deportation.

While three high-school students from Kansas, Liz, Megan and Sabrina, investigate the life of this heroine, Irena summons the ghosts of her past to her room. She reconstructs the fragments of a memory that is fading, so that the unimaginable remains engraved forever.

This polymorphic show weaves a tight mesh between fiction and historical reality, past and present, flesh-and-blood actresses and object-puppets.

Juste Irena recounts the wrongs of yesterday to prevent those of today, makes the notions of courage and humanity resonate, and sheds light on both great History and small ones. But there are no great or small stories in life: there is LIFE!
