Overview
Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Pierre Dumoussaud conducting, with Augusta Holmès, Guy Ropartz, Robert Schmitt and Ernest Guiraud, symphonic poems by Béla Bartók, The Miraculous Mandarin suite, Paul Dukas, L'Apprenti sorcier, symphonic poem.
A symphonic poem is a musical setting of the images that populate a literary work in verse or prose, bearing witness to the porosity that can exist between the language of sounds and that of words.
Drawing on the full forces of an orchestra, the works in this programme, including Paul Dukas's celebrated L'Apprenti sorcier, are perfect demonstrations of the intimacy that forms between poets and musicians.
A link rewoven by Pierre Dumoussaud in an original programme, between great classics and hidden treasures.
