L'Ecole des Femmes

A gem of Molièresque theatre! Arnolphe, a grotesque figure of domineering patriarchy, tries to fashion the perfect wife by keeping Agnès in ignorance.

He is a paranoid guardian, a man consumed by the fear of being deceived, who relentlessly tries to impose his archaic vision of male superiority. But the mechanism turns against him. The trickster is tricked. Agnès, beneath her apparent naivety, awakens to freedom.

What her guardian imagines to be a catechism of submission becomes, for her, a revelation of the crudeness of the mechanisms of oppression.

She questions the prohibitions, dares to say no, dares to love through her encounter with Horace; she moves from shadow into light, discovering her dignity and her power to assert herself. Text: Molière. Direction: Robin Renucci.

Cast: Juliette Cahon, François Deblock, Luc-Antoine Diquéro, François Morel, Sven Narbonne, Chani Sabaty and Igor Skreblin
