Some works carry their timeless power across the years, and The Fall of the Angels is certainly one of them. Created almost ten years ago, this visual fable by Raphaëlle Boitel continues to captivate young and old alike with its dreamlike, enchanting world. What would become of our world if even the angels could no longer fly? By imagining this unsettling future, the director sheds light on our present. In an inhabited darkness, an almost unreal light emerges and reveals suspended bodies, caught up in an aerial writing of great intensity. Figures off balance, silhouettes seeking elevation, shaggy coats hung from the flies, angels fallen from the sky: each one wavers, caught between fall and aspiration. The tone, subtly tragicomic, belongs to a singular cinematic aesthetic. Between shadow and poetry, a fragile humanity tries to free itself from a constrained world. Circus, dance and theatre intertwine with remarkable mastery.
