In this production directed by Marjorie Nakache, the spectator becomes a privileged witness to the creative process. The theatre offers the ideal setting to watch the work being written before our eyes, steeped in the anger and commitments of its author. By giving body to Jean Valjean, a former convict in search of redemption, Victor Hugo brings onto the stage those whom society prefers to ignore, turning his own destiny into a major political act.

The show brings to light the inner transformation of Victor Hugo, who distances himself from his milieu to denounce an elite deaf to popular suffering. By revealing the alchemy between the writer's social life and his imagination, this play brings two worlds that everything opposes into dialogue.
