Overview
Based on Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantès, the victim of a plot, finds himself locked in one of the dungeons of the Château d'If.
Confronted with isolation, the young sailor is saved from madness by his encounter with another prisoner who is attempting to escape: the Abbé Faria. The learned old man, of extraordinary mental liveliness, agrees to educate his fellow captive.
From their meeting grows a deep bond, that of master and disciple, of father and son. As a legacy, the Abbé will bequeath his secret to Edmond Dantès... Thus will be born the legend of the Count of Monte Cristo.
