Les Séparables

Romain and Sabah are nine years old. They are neighbours and both loners. He gallops on his wooden horse, while she hunts bison as a Sioux warrior. Their meeting brings about something incredible and magical. But their budding friendship runs up against the brutality of adults and their parents' prejudices.

Fabrice Melquiot's intuitive words, pitched at a child's eye level, offer a contemporary echo of Roméo et Juliette. This funny and sensitive text deftly confronts us with questions of racism and love for the other. Whatever their age, audiences are carried by the staging into the heart of the characters' sensations and imagination.
