Lever la main droite

Because they touch on the intimate, on violence, shame, or fear, certain words sometimes remain silenced for a long time. Yet no society can claim to fight the violence it refuses to hear. Creating the conditions for this listening is a collective responsibility.

"Lever la main droite" is the gesture made in a court of law when swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. But it is also the title of Cécile Becamel's moving text, which the Théâtre de la Concorde has chosen to bring to the stage.

In a courtroom waiting room, two female victims of domestic violence meet. One is ready to testify, the other refuses to speak. A fragile, at times painful dialogue unfolds between them, in which certainties waver and each tries to understand the path taken by the other.

Brought to life by the voices of Irène Jacob and Maud Wyler, this reading explores the mechanisms of psychological control, the invisible fractures left by violence, and the difficulty of rebuilding trust in oneself and in others.

A work on true listening, healing, and the power of speech.
