Overview
A feel-good show that brings us together and reflects who we are.
A "Feelgood" show that brings us together and reflects who we are.
Married at 13 and born in the Black ghetto of St. Louis, Missouri, the young Joséphine arrives in France and becomes an icon of Parisian high society in the Roaring Twenties. She joins the Resistance and comes to symbolise the great universal woman recently honoured at the Panthéon…
Joséphine Baker the musical "Consécration" reveals the dazzling artist, with her extraordinary talents as a dancer and singer, a forerunner of hip hop.
Along the way we meet her partners (Sidney Bechet, Jean Gabin), her lovers (Paul Colin, Pépito), her husbands (Willie Baker, Jo Bouillon), and the heroes who, like her, did not hesitate to risk their lives to save Jews and thwart the Nazis' plans.
She campaigned all her life against racial segregation, joining Martin Luther King Jr and adopting 12 children of all origins to create her "rainbow tribe"! Fifty years after Joséphine's death and half a century since her last performance at Bobino in 1975, it is time for the "Consécration" version! Still at Bobino.
