Overview
Jazz cabaret — Dive into the spellbinding world of Melissa Lesnie, where obscure jazz standards come to life in a captivating and mysterious Halloween atmosphere.
For Halloween, 38Riv invites you to spend the afternoon on the dark side of jazz. On the programme: the darkest and most mischievous standards by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Eartha Kitt, and Frank Sinatra. Songs where ghosts and witches cross paths with vampires and demons... and where, sometimes, what is most terrifying is the love that continues to haunt us. This spooky and wicked programme has been concocted in the cauldron of Siberian pianist Julia Perminova and Australian singer Melissa Lesnie. As a bonus, Melissa gives us a rare opportunity to hear the theremin: this ghostly instrument, played without being touched, has haunted horror film soundtracks for nearly 100 years.
Leave your good resolutions at the door.
Line-up: Melissa Lesnie: vocals, theremin; Julia Perminova: piano
