#20 Mario Canonge + Michel Zenino - Duo Jazz

LINE UP:MARIO CANONGE pianoMICHEL ZENINO cbasse After nearly two decades of musical complicity, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino are reviving their celebrated residency at Le Baiser Salé, a ritual awaited every Wednesday by a loyal and passionate audience.

Since 2006, this unique piano-double bass duo has established a format as demanding as it is intense, without artifice or compromise, where every note and every silence counts.

The absence of drums, far from being a constraint, becomes a playground where concentration, mutual listening and sensitivity reach their peak.

On stage, Canonge, an unavoidable figure of Caribbean jazz, and Zenino, a double bassist whose phrasing is of formidable precision, revisit the great jazz standards with inventiveness – from Thelonious Monk to Ornette Coleman – while infusing them with their Creole and Latin roots and their taste for cross-cultural fusion.

This residency, a genuine laboratory of improvisation, blends tradition and modernity into a rare alchemy, nourished by years of uninterrupted musical dialogue.

Each week, they also welcome guest musicians who are friends of the duo, extending this dynamic of exchange and exploration. Coming back to these evenings means plunging into a suspended moment, where technical mastery fades in favour of raw emotion and the shared moment.

An essential date for lovers of jazz that is alive, free and embodied.
