Metro Verlaine

Metro Verlaine, a rising figure on the independent pop-rock scene in France, returns to Paris for a much-anticipated series of concerts. The duo promises an evening rich in emotion and punchy melodies at the Point Éphémère.

Formed by Raphaël d'Hervez (vocals, guitar) and Akemi Fujita (bass, backing vocals), Metro Verlaine quickly established itself as a name to watch on the French music scene. The group, from the Paris region, has forged a distinct sonic identity, drawing its inspiration from the energy of post-punk and the melancholy of 1980s new wave while injecting a modern pop sensibility. From their earliest days, they have captivated audiences with songs exploring themes of love, loss and the quest for identity, wrapped in carefully crafted arrangements and polished production. Their bilingual approach, alternating between French and English, adds a further dimension to their repertoire, allowing for broader resonance and varied lyrical exploration.

Their discography, though relatively young, is already marked by albums that have left a lasting impression. Records such as « Cut Up  » or « Funeral Party  » have been praised for their artistic coherence and their ability to create atmospheres that are both dark and luminous. Metro Verlaine excels at building soundscapes where biting guitars meet hypnotic bass lines, all carried by Raphaël d'Hervez's distinctive voice, often compared to those of iconic figures in independent rock. Akemi Fujita, for her part, brings rhythmic depth and vocal harmonies that considerably enrich the duo's sonic texture, creating a perfect balance between power and delicacy.

Metro Verlaine's stage reputation is well established. The group is known for intense, immersive performances, where the raw energy of rock blends with a captivating stage presence. Each concert is an opportunity for the audience to be swept away by the unique atmosphere the duo creates, moving between moments of introspection and bursts of contagious energy. Their performances are often described as a visceral experience, in which the connection with the audience is palpable, turning every venue into a space of shared musical experience.

This visit to Paris, and more particularly to the Point Éphémère, is a fine opportunity to discover or rediscover the world of Metro Verlaine in an intimate setting conducive to exchange.
