Overview

Come and rediscover the story of Miles Davis Meeting with Erwann Gauthier Gabriel Chalick, trumpet · Fabrizio Dori, piano Foyer, Fondation des États-Unis As part of Jazz à la Cité · Free entry on registration Miles Davis was born a hundred years ago.

Paris played a part in his life: he performed there in 1949 and recorded the music for Ascenseur pour l'échafaud there in 1957.

For this centenary, the poet and graphic designer Erwann Gauthier, creator of the Victoires de la Musique trophy and of the exhibition La Couleur du Jazz, devotes a collection to him published by L'Harmattan (L'Écarlate series), Miles Davis, la nuit aussi est un soleil.

At the FEU, his poems will respond live to the trumpet of Gabriel Chalick, an American trumpeter trained at Princeton and artist in residence at the FEU, and to the piano of Fabrizio Dori. The evening continues with an exchange with the audience and a book signing.

The book is on sale on site and online. First evening of the FEU's jazz week, followed by a masterclass on 15 October and the concert by Jay Loenhart and Tomoko Ohno on 16 October. With our thanks to Africa Lyric's Opéra.
