Moun Bakannal

in agreement with Difekako Moun Bakannal A musical and dance journey through the land of carnival.

Setting off to observe this ritual celebration where it is expressed most powerfully, starting with the overseas territories, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, but also the Hauts-de-France, the Basque Country and, of course, the Venetian original, the Difé Kako company has brought back sounds, rhythms, dances and, above all, an incredible collective energy.

This show offers a cross-cutting look at these different ways of 'doing carnival'.

Here, the markers of these different source places are blended into an original creation inspired by Creole tradition, but also infused with electro touches, to which the vocals add a melodic counterpoint.

It draws on the mazurka of Guyanese masked balls and the traditional rhythms celebrated in the Dunkirk carnival, the power of the 'déboulés' and 'vidés' of Guadeloupe and Martinique, and that of the Basque Country's carnival processions, as well as the abandon of street dances, tempered by the poetry and mystery of Venice's canals...
