From Black Flag to the Beach Boys, Southern California has a rich musical history, and Movements are one of its latest heirs.

Since their formation in 2015, the band — comprising vocalist Patrick Miranda, guitarist/bassist Austin Cressey, guitarist Ira George, and drummer Spencer York — has evolved from a raw, combative post-hardcore project into a genuine headliner, accumulating over 775 million streams and taking some of their biggest inspirations, such as Tigers Jaw and Citizen, on the road as support acts.

For their fourth album on Fearless Records, “Happier Now”, the band reunited with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Circa Survive) to create an album that is as ambitious as it is emotional, pushing Movements' characteristic sound to new heights and further cementing the band as a benchmark in the scene.

While the band had previously had to conceive their albums on tight deadlines between tours, “Happier Now” was written and recorded over three distinct month-long sessions spread across the past year, with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

This is the longest period the band has ever spent in the studio. “I think at first, we weren’t really sure what the album was going to be,” admits Patrick Miranda.

” Two of the tracks from that first session, the immediately catchy anthem “Dissolve Me” and the darker meditation “Back In My Ways,” collectively served as sonic guiding stars for the band throughout the recording process… with, of course, the additional help of Will Yip.
