Overview
To get into the Christmas spirit, this piano concert — both solo and four-hands — invites you on a true journey of discovery. The voyage begins with Johann Sebastian BACH and some of his most beautiful chorales.
It continues with NOVAK's famous Winter Songs, whose descriptive writing, heralding impressionism, poetically depicts the nights leading up to Christmas. Next comes MESSIAEN: through two of his Regards, we encounter the Star and the light of the Infant Jesus.
Following on from this contemplative atmosphere will be the world premiere of the Sonata-Fantasy by STOTZ, a Czech-Swiss composer, in which the third movement unfolds variations on the popular theme "Ils étaient trois petits enfants".
The concert will conclude on a brilliant note, with the magnificent Overture to VERDI's La Forza del Destino.
