Overview
Omri Mor - Mehdi Nassouli - Karim Ziad - "Assala" – Omri Mor: piano – Karim Ziad: drums – Mehdi Nassouli: GuembriAssala is the encounter of three major artists of Mediterranean jazz: Israeli pianist Omri Mor, Algerian drummer Karim Ziad, and Moroccan Gnawa master Mehdi Nassouli.
Together, they weave a vibrant dialogue between contemporary jazz, Arab-Andalusian music, and Gnawa tradition. A virtuoso spotted by Avishai Cohen, Omri Mor displays a piano of great freedom, nourished by classical and oriental influences.
Karim Ziad, a key figure on the jazz and Maghrebi scenes, infuses a unique rhythmic energy, while Mehdi Nassouli, singer and guembri player, makes the full spiritual strength of the Gnawa heritage resonate.
Their project Assala ("authenticity" in Arabic) is an invitation to travel, where improvisation, trance, poetry, and virtuosity meet. Music without borders, luminous and enchanting, carried by three exceptional artists.
