Anja Lechner and Pablo Márquez have been exploring the repertoire for cello and guitar for some twenty years, developing a unique sound that serves as the starting point for a series of commissions from female and male composers hailing from all latitudes.

Developed though it may be, the repertoire for cello and guitar remains a poor relation of contemporary creation. This is why the Lechner-Márquez duo embarked on a commissioning project that draws upon their exceptional musical affinity.

Yet the female and male composers they approached all have multiple ties: such as the Brazilian Egberto Gismonti, partly trained in France and working with jazzmen and traditional musicians, or Konstantia Gourzi, a Greek composer based in Germany, much like the Franco-Argentine Oscar Strasnoy.

As for the Franco-Lebanese Zad Moultaka and the Iranian Golfam Khayam, they build a bridge between the Middle East and the West.
