Peer Gynt et Compagnie

This concert, conducted by the young Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving, showcases composers who put Scandinavia on the map of the great musical nations in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Among them, the Danish composer Carl Nielsen shows the measure of his talent as an orchestrator with a festive, sparkling work: his overture to the opera Mascarade, inspired by the man known as the "Scandinavian Molière", Ludvig Holberg.

The Violin Concerto by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius is a very great classic of the repertoire for violin and orchestra.

Also resounding will be Sibelius's great Seventh Symphony, and the story of one of the most endearing fictional characters in Norwegian literature: the wanderer Peer Gynt and his fantastic encounters with trolls. Orchestre national d'Île-de-France. Conducted by Emilia Hoving.
