Saga Rachmaninov

A concert devoted to the work of the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov, given at the Auditorium of the Opéra National de Bordeaux as part of the classical music repertoire.

Sergei Rachmaninov (1873-1943) was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor. Trained in Moscow, he belongs to the Romantic tradition descending from Tchaikovsky. Among his most frequently performed pieces are the Piano Concerto No. 2, the Prelude in C-sharp minor and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, as well as the song Vocalise. After 1917 he left Russia and settled in the United States.

This evening is entirely devoted to the work of this composer. It takes place at the Auditorium of the Opéra National de Bordeaux, a concert and performance hall in the city centre that hosts both concerts and theatrical productions.
