Overview
A deeply moving theatrical epic in which exile, love and history intertwine in the warmth of a Vietnamese restaurant.
Spanning 1956 to 1996, the play covers almost 40 years of history through the fates of eleven characters who have lived between Vietnam and France. The set is a Vietnamese restaurant that alternates between Saïgon in 1956, the year of the last departures of French people from Indochina, and Paris in 1996, the year the Vietnamese government allowed people who had emigrated to return to their homeland.
In this setting, intimate trajectories cross paths: stories of love, family, friendship and exile, caught up in the whirlwind of History. To nourish this fiction as close to reality as possible, the director carried out lengthy research and many encounters, both in France and in Vietnam.
On stage, the performers give flesh to the missing stories of this collective memory.
