Salle de Traite

Salle de traite is a play with three performers. The show tells the story of a farmer who struggles to make a living from his work.

Salle de traite is the first part of Nos monstres tapent à nos fenêtres, a new triptych by Hadrien Marielle-Tréhouart — Compagnie La Maison et Loyzeau. Adapted from the text by Rebecca Vaissermann, the show follows a farmer who tries, at any cost, to save his farm and his herd of dairy cows, a herd that finds its voice. Angry farmers and slaughterhouse workers also make their voices heard. Faced with the repeated pressure of a creditor, the farmer's daily life gradually turns into an endless succession of sacrifices.

Salle de traite reflects a reality that is now our own: in France, a farmer takes his own life every two days on his workplace. Hundreds of others give up their trade, unable to make a decent living. But who benefits from these sacrifices?
