SOLAXIS | Lisa Cat-Berro

Album release: SOLAXIS (Inside Air - 2026.)

SOLAXIS is a formation without equivalent: from baritone to soprano, the great saxophone family is brought together for a summit of five exceptional musicians, acclaimed soloists whose paths have crossed for years, on stage and in the studio. Saxophonist Lisa Cat-Berro (nominated for the 2013 Victoires du Jazz) brought them together and took up the challenge of composing for this unusual line-up, with the starting point being the desire to explore all the sonic possibilities offered by a saxophone quintet and to showcase this instrument. Added to this is a solid bass and drums rhythm section, provided by two pillars of the Parisian jazz groove scene. Carried by this finely crafted, tailor-made repertoire, each of the soloists is able to express her own personality, and seven strong, singular temperaments are revealed here. Weaving virtuosically between jazz, instrumental pop, 70s electro and afrobeat, SOLAXIS captivates with a dense sound, sculpted from the mass, sophisticated arrangements and an intense groove, a kaleidoscope of hypnotic motifs carried by a flawless rhythm section. Conceived as a true manifesto, this group, with its powerful and inspiring energy, carries the colours of the saxophone high.
