Cocanha: danceable polyphonic songs / Occitan pop
Toulouse-based Caroline Dufau and Lila Fraysse master the fascinating tambour à cordes with force and subtlety, a hybrid instrument, half percussion and half zither, whose resonances reach the very depths of the senses. Cocanha also sings in polyphony and in langue d'oc, reworking engaged texts, new or old, corrected where necessary to counter any sexist excesses. Their duo makes us dream, vibrate, reflect and dance.
Aàgut: songs, percussion & sequins. Album release
Since the innovations of the late 1990s, polyphonic songs in langue d'oc have become a musical genre in their own right. Aàgut extends the geographical reach of its songs from Béarn to Galicia. This exhilarating all-female trio of singers and percussionists, joined by a seasoned percussionist and some electroacoustic effects, takes us on a tour of the Pyrenees, leaping from peak to peak.
