His versatility of timbre and great curiosity about repertoires inspire him toward off-the-beaten-path projects.
In the footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, writer of nomadic lives who documented the 'sung itineraries' of Australian aborigines, Marc Mauillon creates his own vocal cosmogony made of medieval figures and 20th and 21st-century composers.
And, in approaching them, brings them closer despite the distance of time, geographies and vocalities.
The voice laid bare in the soberness of monody radiates exemplary diction, always-just intention and an intensity that reminds us that the tenor, regularly called upon to teach the keys of medieval repertoire, is also an enlightened and passionate performer of contemporary creation.
