Overview
An internationally renowned soloist, the French violinist Pierre Fouchenneret joins the Orchestre Consuelo and its conductor Victor Julien-Laferrière for an evening celebrating the folk-inflected and lyrical accents of Tchaikovsky. He takes the lead in a grand fresco of the Romantic repertoire: the Violin Concerto in D major by the Russian composer. The central canzonetta has nothing to envy the celebrated theme of the first movement, luminous and sustained by a brass-rich orchestra. The work concludes in a virtuosic whirlwind, imbued with popular rhythms. The rarer yet monumental Suite No. 3 for orchestra by the Russian master is presented in the second half.
