The Ocean + A.a Williams

/// THE OCEAN (Atmospheric post-metal - Germany) /// Solaris is the twelfth studio album by The Ocean and marks a new milestone in the band's history. It extends the dystopian universe of Holocene, imagining an Earth made uninhabitable by the impact of human progress.

The album tells the story of survivors leaving their planet aboard a spacecraft in search of a new world. Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's film Solaris, the record blends science fiction, exploration, and existential reflection.

The Ocean also draws inspiration from great historical figures of exploration, from Magellan to Francis Drake. Through these references, the band questions ambition, power, domination, and the price of the quest for knowledge.

This new work relies on a renewed line-up, bringing together musicians from several countries. Their atmospheric post-metal is enriched with synthesizers, piano, electronics, trombone, and vibraphone.

Recorded at Berlin's legendary Hansa Studios, Solaris combines musical power and narrative depth. With this album, The Ocean offers a journey between Earth and cosmos, where exploration becomes a reflection on the future of humanity. A.

Williams has established herself as one of the unique voices of the contemporary heavy scene, blending intensity, emotion, and folk and classical influences.

Breakthrough artist at the prestigious Roadburn Festival, she has since shared the stage with bands like Cult of Luna, Explosions in the Sky, Russian Circles, and Sleep Token. Her albums Forever Blue (2020) and As the Moon Rests (2022) have been widely acclaimed by critics.

A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, she develops a universe where orchestral arrangements meet post-rock and heavy music. In 2026, she returns with Solstice, her most ambitious and coherent album to date, hailed as a majestic return.
