Khalil Epi presents TUQS, an immersive audiovisual performance.

TUQUS (“rituel” in Arabic) explores musical and gestural traditions linked to trance and to the gathering of the peoples of the Mediterranean basin, and questions what connects them across history, territories and the movements that cross them.

This hybrid show combines electronic music with documentary creation.

From Greece to Palestine, from Egypt to Morocco, from Italy to Tunisia, the forms differ, but the gesture remains the same everywhere: music and its repetition carry bodies towards dance and open a moment of sharing in which trance sometimes surfaces, drawing the living closer together.

This project continues Khalil Epi’s work on popular and ritual music, begun with Aïchoucha. With TUQUS, the research broadens, both geographically and symbolically, to offer a powerful and deeply embodied stage experience, in which the concert itself becomes a shared ritual.
