Overview
With a return to its atmospheric and dynamic universe, while embracing its psychedelic innovation, Turnover marks a turning point with its new album “Down On Earth”, which it will present in Paris on Saturday 13 March 2027 on the stage of the Trabendo.
Turnover reached a decisive turning point after the release of “Myself In The Way” in 2022, at the end of a prolific period marked by constant innovation and the widening of their sonic universe. After their longest break between two albums, the band members — Austin and Casey Getz, Danny Dempsey and Nick Rayfield — came back together to write together, shaping their tracks through improvisations in the studio. The result is “Down On Earth”, their sixth album, a landmark work that embraces both their roots and the lessons learnt over ten years of career.
After starting out as a punk band from Virginia Beach, Turnover spent years widening its sonic universe — from the pop-punk of “Magnolia” to the dreamlike textures of “Peripheral Vision” and “Good Nature”, then towards experimental territories with “Altogether” and “Myself In The Way”. “Down On Earth” draws on this whole universe — echoing the aesthetics with which they have played, but delivered with a musical sharpness honed by ten years of experimentation and the difficulties of evolving. With Zac Montez, their long-standing sound engineer, producing, the band sought to capture its live energy in the studio.
Lyrically, the album was written naturally, drawing on love, loss and existential reflection. The result is a dynamic and atmospheric album that strikes a balance between psychedelia and sharply crafted songwriting — affirming Turnover's identity as a band free of any genre constraint, yet anchored in its own creative vision.
