Ubu roi

The famous play Ubu roi takes over the stage at El Clan Destino for a fresh reading of Alfred Jarry's text.

Featuring a cast bringing together Ruben Wolzok, Nina Goupil, Amaël Dugain, Julien Joly and Baptiste Ducom, this staging tackles the classical repertoire of burlesque farce. Audiences will rediscover the figure of Père Ubu, the archetype of cowardice, greed and stupidity in power, within a satirical and biting theatrical register. The actors take over the space of this twentieth-arrondissement performance venue to bring Jarry's language to life, hovering between triviality and excess.

On stage, the performance relies on collective energy to restore the seditious spirit of the original work, created at the end of the nineteenth century. Spectators will discover a production that takes over the El Clan Destino venue, located on rue des Envierges in Paris, thereby offering a direct glimpse into this political and carnivalesque fable. This event is aimed at lovers of classical texts revisited through the prism of satirical comedy and dramatic art.
