Overview

Virginie et Paul A director and two artists are preparing a play titled Virginie et Paul, which tells the story of Paul and Virginie… who invite their best friends Paul and Virginie to dinner. Paul, Virginie's husband, is in love with the other Virginie, while his wife Virginie is courted by the other Paul. In this play, the two Pauls are played by the same actor (who is also called Paul) and the two Virginies by the same actress (who is also called Virginie). Yes, all of this would be infinitely clearer if everyone didn't have the same first name. But it would undoubtedly be much less funny… Jacques Mougenot, whom you may have discovered in L’Affaire Dussaert, delightfully cultivates the art of wordplay and the absurd. Here, he delivers a burlesque and joyful comedy, driven by lively music played live — a show as perplexing as it is irresistible.

A comedy by Jacques Mougenot

Music and direction: Hervé Devolder – assisted by Marine Guérin

With: Carole Deffit, Jacques Mougenot and Fabian Richard

Musicians: Patrick Villanueva (piano), Benoît Dunoyer (double bass), François Chambert (saxophone)
