Charlélie Couture (often styled CharlÉlie Couture), real name Bertrand Charles Élie Couture, is a French-American singer, composer, painter, writer, graphic designer and photographer, born on 26 February 1956 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle).
His stage name combines the first names of his two grandfathers.
He works across multiple artistic disciplines, and describes himself as embracing "multism", a term coined by Mario Salis, which he defines as follows:
"Multism is about pointing out that there's a difference between substance and form, between how and why. We often associate art with a manner of doing things, whereas I believe art depends a great deal on intent. And when you have an intent, you find the way to carry it out."
