About — The artist

Charlélie Couture (often stylised CharlÉlie Couture), whose real name is Bertrand Charles Élie Couture, is a French-American singer, composer, painter, writer, graphic designer, and photographer, born on February 26, 1956, in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle).

His pseudonym is a combination of his two grandfathers' first names.

He explores multiple artistic disciplines and claims to be a proponent of “multism,” a term coined by Mario Salis, which he defines as follows:

“Multism is the idea that there is a difference between content and form, between the how and the why. Art is often associated with a manner, whereas I believe that art depends heavily on intention. And when you have an intention, you find the way to do it.”
