About — The artist
Floor Jansen (born February 21, 1981) is a Dutch singer. She is the lead singer of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish.
Jansen was the lead singer of the symphonic metal band After Forever from 1997, the year she joined at age sixteen, until its dissolution in 2009. When the band dissolved, she formed ReVamp, with whom she released two albums. In 2012, after the departure of singer Anette Olzon, Nightwish brought in Jansen as a touring member until the end of their Imaginaerum World Tour. In 2013, the band announced she was becoming their full-time singer; she then disbanded ReVamp to devote herself to Nightwish. In 2018, she presented, with Pagan's Mind guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad, their hard rock duo Northward.
A regular collaborator of Arjen Anthony Lucassen, Jansen is a member of his progressive metal supergroup Star One, and has sung on the Ayreon albums Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer, 01011001, and The Source, as well as on the live album Ayreon Universe – The Best of Ayreon Live. She has also sung lead vocals on several tracks of MaYan's album Quarterpast and on Avalon's Angels of the Apocalypse. She is the elder sister of singer Irene Jansen, who has also worked with Ayreon.
