About — The artist
Humanity's Last Breath is a Swedish deathcore band, formed in 2009 by guitarists Buster Odeholm (later known as the drummer of Vildhjarta and Thrown) and Kristoffer Nillsson. The band released its debut EP, Reanimated by Hate, in 2010, and its self-titled first album three years later. Its second studio album, Abyssal, was released in 2019, its third, Välde, in 2021, and its fourth, Ashen, in 2023.
The band is known for blending deathcore, djent, doom metal and blackened death metal, and has been compared to bands such as Meshuggah and Vildhjarta for its use of polyrhythms. It describes its sound as “Thall.”
Buster Odeholm, the band's guitarist, producer and main songwriter, is also credited with shaping the modern “thall” sound associated with Humanity's Last Breath and its offshoot bands. Gear Gods wrote that, when it comes to dialing in ultra-precise, ultra-low-tuned metal tones, few musicians have refined that process as much as Buster Odeholm.
