Indochine

Indochine is a French pop rock group from Paris.

Formed by Nicola Sirkis and Dominique Nicolas in 1981, and rooted in the synthpop and new wave movements, the band broke through with the track L’Aventurier in 1982. Indochine enjoyed great success in the 1980s with hits such as Trois nuits par semaine, 3e sexe, Tes yeux noirs and Canary Bay. After several albums that met with more modest success, and a marked lack of interest from the media in the 1990s, the group regained success in 2002 with the release of the album Paradize, which produced the single J'ai demandé à la Lune.

Indochine was the first French group to fill the Stade de France, in 2010. In 2011 it received an honorary Victoire at the Victoires de la musique, and another in 2026. With more than 13 million records sold, it is the French group that has sold the most records. In 2017, Indochine received an honorary award at the NRJ Music Awards.

On Saturday 21 May 2022, while the group broke the record for attendance at the Stade de France during its Central Tour (97,036 people), a poll placed Indochine third in the ranking of the French public's favourite artists. The following year, the group climbed to second place in the same ranking.
