About — The artist
Abdel Kader Haiboui, better known as Kader Japonais, born on March 11, 1979, in Bab-El-Oued, Algiers, Algeria, is an Algerian Raï singer and production artist.
He rose to fame in the 2000s with the single « Jibou la Brigade » and again in the 2010s with the singles « Nti Sbabi » and « Waalach ». He sings in Algerian Arabic and sometimes in French or Eastern Arabic dialects. His music fuses Raï with Chaabi, Arabic pop, and other Maghrebi musical styles. His songs range from slow, sentimental ballads to fast dance tracks.
Kader Japonais has participated in international festivals in the Maghreb, notably in Timgad, Sidi Bel Abbès, Djemila, Algiers, at the Mawazine festival in Rabat, Oujda and Casablanca, at the Khiwa festival in Hammamet, at the Kasserine festival and at the World Festival of Black Arts in Senegal. He has also gained recognition in France through his annual performances at the Zénith de Paris for the Nuit du Raï and at the Festival du Raï de Toulouse, as well as at the Festival du Monde Arabe in Montreal.
