About — The artist

Les Ramoneurs de menhirs is a Breton Celtic punk band. Formed in 2006, it consists of the bagpipe and bombarde duo Éric Gorce (bombarde) and Richard Bévillon (biniou), Gwénaël Kere on vocals, and Loran on electric guitar. The saturated distortion of the guitar blends with the high-pitched timbres of traditional instruments, and the drum machine accompanies the intense and repetitive rhythm of Breton dance. Most of the singing is in Breton.

Loran, an emblematic figure of the 1980s alternative scene with Bérurier noir, places the connection between punk rock and Breton music within the same spirit of defiance. Performing for an intergenerational audience, the band aims to be unifying and believes its role is to convey messages, much like bards in Breton song (such as Glenmor in the 1960s-1970s).

Les Ramoneurs de menhirs perform at fest-noz events and concerts, at festivals, both in France and abroad. From the band's beginnings until her passing, Louise Ebrel lent her voice to their recordings and regularly accompanied them on stage. In 2016, the band embarked on its tenth tour, and released its fourth album in June 2017 for the Hellfest festival.
