Meiway

Meiway, real name Frédéric Désiré Patrice Ehui, nicknamed "Professor Awôlôwôh" or "The genius of Kpalèzo", is an Ivorian singer-songwriter, arranger, director and music producer born on 17 March 1962 in Abidjan. Creator of the Zoblazo musical genre (the "dance of white handkerchiefs") inspired by folkloristic rhythms of southern Ivory Coast, he develops it throughout his career first in Ivory Coast then throughout the world. He has had strong influence on the musical culture of his country and is considered a major Ivorian artist of the twenty-first century. He has thirteen albums to his credit. He also directs his own label called Meiway Organisation. Meiway is a citizen of honour of Grand-Bassam and is an officer of the Ivorian national order. On 16 June 2024, he celebrated 35 years of musical career at the Abidjan Exhibition Park.
