Melanie C

Melanie Jayne Chisholm, born January 12, 1974, in Whiston, near Liverpool in Merseyside, also known as Melanie C or Mel C, is an English singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress. She was a member of the Spice Girls, where she was best known by the nickname Sporty Spice. Primarily active between 1996 and 1998, the Spice Girls are one of the greatest girl groups of all time in music history, with over 100 million records sold and 10 number one singles worldwide.

Melanie C has also found success throughout her solo career. In 1999, she released her debut album Northern Star, which features the hits Never Be The Same Again, a duet with Lisa Lopes, and I Turn To You, selling over 5 million copies.

In 2003, she released her second album Reason, which, accompanied by the singles Here It Come Again and On The Horizon, sold over 500,000 copies in the United Kingdom alone.

The following year, she launched into entrepreneurship and created her own record label, Red Girls Records. In 2005, she released the album Beautiful Intentions, whose hit single First Day Of My Life sold over 1.5 million copies and went platinum in many countries.

With all the subsequent albums (This Time (2007), The Sea (2011), The Stages (2012), Version Of Me (2016), and Melanie C (2020)), Melanie C's discography forms an eclectic body of work, mixing pop, rock, electronic music, R&B, and other influences, which the artist performs worldwide.

In 2001, her song I Turn To You, directly released as a remix/single and produced by Hex Hector, won a Grammy Award for Best Remix of the Year, which was a first in music history.

With 12 number one singles in the United Kingdom, she is the British female artist with the most number one singles in the country. The artist has sold over 131 million records, including 26 million as a solo artist and 105 million as a Spice Girl.
