About — The artist

Mélissa Laveaux, born on 9 January 1985 in Montreal, is a Canadian singer-songwriter who acquired French nationality in 2019. Her parents are originally from Haiti, and her music is tinged with Haitian influences, as well as blues and folk. She writes and sings in three languages: English, French, and Haitian Creole.

After signing with No Format!, a French label, in 2007 and releasing 3 albums with them, Mélissa Laveaux established her own label, Twanet, in 2022, through which she produced her albums Mama Forgot Her Name Was Miracle and At My Softest, I Am Most Dangerous.
