Giovanni Rota Rinaldi, known as Nino Rota, born December 3, 1911 in Milan and died April 10, 1979 in Rome, was an Italian composer and conductor, renowned for his film compositions (original music for approximately 170 films), notably for films by Federico Fellini and for the theme of The Godfather. He is also the composer of 4 symphonies, 11 operas, 9 concertos and abundant chamber music.
