Ballets Jazz Montréal returns with a creation by Jo Strømgren, master of contrasts and tender ruptures. In this sprawling, fragmented fresco, thirteen performers cross the shadow of the end of life to celebrate the light of the encounters that shape us. On stage, a community weaves itself together, unravels, and finds itself again. Beneath the gaze of a sensitive ghost, gestures become suspended memories, impulses that tell of love, friendship, loss, and those silences that say everything. In the voice as in the bodies, everything wavers, everything vibrates: the celebration embraces melancholy, nostalgia flirts with the urgency of living, and the farewells thunder with renewal. The tableaux follow one another to music steeped in symbols, like so many heartbeats: intimate, fiery, dizzying.

The final revue is a sea of light, a cathartic tribute to what survives oblivion. A disquieting, visceral crossing, where dance becomes a refuge, a ritual, a resistance, an uncompromising final joy.
