It is within the festive setting of Clara's 18th birthday celebration that this ballet opens, surrounded by her family. Everyone celebrates the young woman's passage into adulthood. Later in the evening, Clara leaves to join her friends and carry on the party. On the way, the demons that haunted her throughout her childhood return to torment her. It is at this moment that the Nutcracker appears to support Clara in vanquishing these monsters of the past.

To bring this work up to date, the atmosphere of this version will take you into a bewitching, magical and enchanted world, while keeping the musical mood of Tchaikovsky that is essential to this ballet. The lightness of the music contrasts with the particular climate of the various encounters and the blending of cultures.

This is one of the most famous ballets in the dance world and one of the most accessible. Laurent Drousie offers a new version, more contemporary and modern, which does not overlook the foundations of this rite of passage – a young girl becoming a woman who meets her first love – but gives it a different interpretation.
