Concert Tourbillon - Orchestre Pasdeloup

Cast Orchestre Pasdeloup Christian Vásquez, conductor Megumi Hamaya, organ Programme Elżbieta Sikora, Organ Concerto No. 2 Hector Berlioz, Symphonie fantastique Following the Organ Concerto No.

2 by a Polish composer with a rich catalogue comes the emblem of Romantic orchestral music, this Symphonie fantastique, whose dazzling imagery continues to impress.

With some sixty opus numbers, including operas, symphonic works and chamber music, Elżbieta Sikora's catalogue includes both electroacoustic pieces and instrumental works.

"I listen, I search tirelessly," explains the composer, who describes her music as "lyrical expressionism" and wrote her Second Organ Concerto in 2022.

The centrepiece of this concert, the Symphonie fantastique remains one of the most evocative and dazzling works of programme music, its tale of an artist's torments carrying strong autobiographical undertones.

"A Ball", "March to the Scaffold", "Dream of a Witches' Sabbath": so many showpiece movements in which Berlioz's visionary imagination asserts itself with force.
