Écrite en 1948, au sortir de la guerre, après la Shoah, Nagasaki et Hiroshima, En attendant Godot fait entendre les dialogues doux dingues de deux personnages propulsés au bord d’un plateau où trône un saule décharné.
Ces deux-là s’inventent des histoires pour conjurer l’ennui et l’attente d’un personnage mystérieux, Godot, dont on devine qu’il ne viendra jamais. Quand soudain les rejoignent deux autres personnages, menaçants et déroutants à la fois.
