Braises - Michel Kelemenis

A vast trove of vanished gestures sets out to explore the metaphorical threads of the word "braises" [embers].

Flickering light, the fireside's fervent warmth, social wildfire, megafires… Michel Kelemenis celebrates his fortieth season with a creation inspired by his own body of work.

Already, in his recent pieces, fragments of the past had begun slipping in and twisting, through mischief, pleasure, thematic echo, or because he recognises in them a personal syntax.

Here, seven longtime performers take hold of elements gleaned from these intangible archives made of images, emotions and fragmentary memory, turning them into fuel for impulses brought up to date by today's bodies. A remarkable dynamic emerges, and life itself floods the stage.

Critics' verdict: "His finely honed, musical writing is highly regarded. " Agnès Izrine, Danser Canal Historique
