Audiences will witness a comic and twilight autopsy of the utopias of a generation. Michel Corrini is a factory worker in Belfort; Marie-France Deschamps is a journalist in Paris; Luc Corrini is a teacher in Vénissieux. What do they have in common? They were born in the early 1950s and, at eighteen, "took part in" May 1968. But above all, on the evening of 10 May 1981, they were thirty years old and dreamed of seeing François Mitterrand elected so that, at last, they could "change life."

Today, on the eve of the first round of the 2022 presidential election, Luc is preparing to vote for Jean-Luc Mélenchon; Marie-France for Emmanuel Macron; and Michel for Marine Le Pen. What promises, unspoken words and betrayals does the name François Mitterrand stand for? That is what the three characters set out to understand, recounting their destinies, emblematic of France at the close of the twentieth century, and taking turns to embody the first Socialist President of the Fifth Republic.
