Humanity in crustacean mode

Three hundred shrimps, embodying the lives of as many humans, re-enact the comedy of ordinary labour. With this show, the Dutch company Hotel Modern pushes the boundaries of inventiveness and fantasy by examining our humanity through a magnifying glass, zooming in and out on the miniature theatre of everyday life: funerals, childbirth, bistros, petrol stations or nightclubs… All places are allowed and all situations are represented in miniature and filmed in real time. Mixing live cinema, object theatre and live performance, Histoires de crevettes is an extraordinary experience. Through the prism of small pink crustaceans that we are more accustomed to eating than contemplating, we get a close look at the trivialities of our tragicomic earthly existences.
