Imminentes - Jann Gallois, Chaillot Théâtre National de la Danse, Paris

Jann Gallois, Imminentes. In Imminentes, Jann Gallois brings together an intense, hypnotic sextet of six female dancers whose bodies respond to one another like a wave.

Inspired by feminine energy and the hope for a more peaceful world, the show invites us to look at our times differently. With Imminentes, choreographer Jann Gallois imagines a collective dance carried by six women.

On stage, bodies gather, respond to one another and support each other, as if carried by a single shared energy. Gestures spread from one performer to the next, creating a ritual and forming a community.

Through the calm, deep strength that emerges from the movement, the choreography can transform the way we see the world.

The piece fits within the artistic world of Jann Gallois, a choreographer who came up through hip-hop and is known for her highly physical style blending urban and contemporary dance.

Since founding her company BurnOut, she has become co-director of L'Agora, the international dance centre in Montpellier, and has developed a precise, expressive vocabulary of movement that questions human nature and how individuals can act together.

For her new creation, the artist draws on feminine energy. The dancers here are powerful figures — witches, goddesses, nymphs. They embody a collective strength capable of transcending the violence and tensions of the present.

At no point, however, does the show become a militant manifesto. Instead, it offers a poetic reflection on the bonds between people.

In the history of dance, this approach evokes certain ritual and communal forms, as well as the legacy of urban dance, where energy flows between performers. For Jann Gallois, this flow becomes a metaphor for a humanity in search of harmony. Delphine Goater.
