Ground Extended Stuck / Bounce

Mounia Nassangar / Sons of Wind Ground Extended STUCK / Bounce A deep dive into the history of hip-hop dance.

That's the promise of this shared evening, where Sons of Wind distil their magnetic freestyle in Bounce, while Mounia Nassangar transports the audience to the origins of whacking ahead of STUCK, revealing the celebratory and defiant power of this dance style.

Together they unleash the energy of hip-hop freestyle on stage. In Bounce, Sons of Wind let themselves be taken over by groove, that repetitive movement so closely tied to music, which sets bodies swaying in rhythm.

Guided by Lumi Sow, at the helm of the interdisciplinary group founded in 2013, ten performers radiate cohesion and the sheer joy of dancing in a fiery atmosphere.

Their eruptive dance also puts the founding values of the hip-hop movement front and centre: respect, sharing and self-transcendence.

Then whacking star Mounia Nassangar unveils the hypnotic arm windmills characteristic of this style, born within the Black and Latino LGBT community in Los Angeles in the 1970s.

In a cinematic atmosphere echoing with disco and funk rhythms, five dancers unfold the striking expressiveness of their dance, its intensity recalling the urgency from which whacking emerged. Proof that the legacy of hip-hop dance is very much alive.
